‘Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka’ is progressive: Aatish Kapadia

The promos of Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka are on the air on Sony and all of them ask the same question: If there’s nothing wrong with Rajini or with her husband Krish or in their relationship, then why is the family gearing up to get her married again? Unfortunately, at the launch of the show on Thursday night, writer Aatish Kapadia, producer JD Majethia and Virendra Shahaney, Fiction Head, Sony Entertainment Television, refused to answer that question. “You’ll know as you watch the serial and as the story progresses that there is no one answer,” said JD. “Each question answered will give rise to more.”
At the same time, all of them were quick to insist that BHBK is not going to be just another saas-bahu(mother-in-law and daughter-in-law) show. JD stated, “BHBK is a love story in which the whole family is involved. It’s not just a saas-bahu show. There are two sets of saas-bahu: Dadi and Yashodha and Yashodha and Rajini. Dadi and Yashodha’s chemistry is something you’ve never seen before on television. Yashodha and Rajini’s chemistry is ajeeb (strange), it’s the USP of the show.” Added Aatish,“This is not a show where the saas apni bahu ko dhakal deti hai (the mother-in-law pushes away her daughter-in-law). That will be regressive thought. This show has a progressive thought.” We’ll have to wait and see if the show really lives up to the makers’ promise. Are you curious enough to tune in?
